Today was our first Minga day. As none of us knew quite what to expect we were anxious to get there and to see the family again. We start this day with grateful and thankful hearts for all God has given us. It was a 15-minute bus ride on public transport up into the mountains to the limited home of the family. After a trek down a hill they met us at the door with smiles. As we looked around the home parts had no roof, walls falling, all sleep together in one room (we later found out two rooms for all 6 people), no true bathroom.
We found out our jobs and went straight to work. Groups hauled sand to mix mortar, broke down cinder block and rock to make more mortar, tore down old walls to make new ones. Everyone worked together as one unit “a team”, even the family and “baby Daniel” broke rock with a hammer.
It is so humbling to be around people so less fortunate than yourself. So little yet they smile and love so easily. God blessed us with so many new delightful friends here on this journey of love. May He give us strength to continue His work here. #mission4am
